Expert review: Abbasabad Travertine

Iran's best-known white travertine — the whiter the lot, the rarer it is. Produced in vein-cut and cross-cut.

Abbasabad travertine has become a default choice for residential and office facades. Its ground is a light cream leaning to white, and the price of every lot follows its whiteness and consistency.

It is cut two ways: vein-cut shows the natural layers as parallel lines, giving the facade a linear rhythm; cross-cut reads calmer and more uniform. Vein-cut usually costs more because it produces more waste.

For classical facades we turn columns, cornices and mouldings from the same lot in our workshop so the whole elevation stays in one tone.
